Morcheeba share a fresh remix from French electronic/alt-pop maestro Voyou, who’s worked his groovy, instrumentation-heavy stylings on ‘The Moon’, the third single from the acclaimed ‘Blackest Blue’ album – STREAM ‘THE MOON’ (VOYOU REMIX) HERE.
It’s another artistic feather in the cap of the multi-instrumentalist, and a flawless addition to Morcheeba’s upcoming exclusive Record Store Day 12” Vinyl LP, ‘Blackest Blue – The Remixes’, which will include include British giants of electronic music Orbital switching up the signature Morcheeba ‘chill’ vibe of ‘Namaste’ to an electronic drum and bass dancefloor stomper, whilst producer Gui Boratto turns a progressive electronica/chill house remix of ‘Sounds Of Blue’, with the addition of the upcoming prolific producer and multi-instrumentalist Kutiman rework of ‘The Moon’.
Engrossing, colourful and wholly authentic, Voyou’s workflow is a wonder to behold, taking Morcheeba original and shining a light on another side of the track. Where ‘The Moon’ was mysterious and contemplative, “about following the light of the moon and tapping into its powerful luminous energy, harnessing its positivity to escape the depression and darkness”, Voyou’s remix adds pristine brass sections and more deft, skippy percussion hits, bringing through additional positivity and sunlit funk to proceedings.
This remix follows the acclaimed launch of Morcheeba’s 10-track ‘Blackest Blue’ album in May 2021, released independently via their very own Fly Agaric Records. Earning a 5-star review and described as “bold, mercurial, and enthralling” by Albumism, Voyou’s new remix is the perfect accompaniment and extension of the full-length project, along with a series of new remixes due throughout 2022. This package, re-imagined by an impressive array of international producers and remixers, signifies the enduring legacy of Morcheeba.
Their global reach is impressive, taking them to every corner of the world, and their signature chilled electronic/organic sound has been border-hopping ever since the London-based band emerged as a household name.
