Moss Kena is a rare talent. He made his breakthrough after capturing the attention of Kendrick Lamar with a soulful-funk rendition of Lemar’s ‘These Walls’. Inspired by singers such as Amy Winehouse and Al Green, but also growing up on a diet of dance music, Kena released a slew of critically acclaimed R&B tracks throughout 2018 and 2019 on Ministry of Sound, earning him a BBC Radio 1 Introducing playlist addition for his single ‘Square One’ and an Apple Music ‘New Artist Of The Week’ accolade34 million streams later, Kena has been championed across Radio 1, 1XTRA and Beats 1 by Zane Lowe, Mistajam, DJ Target and Annie Mac, and toured with pop favourites, Rita Ora, Jess Glynne and Bastille.

Kena’s proven songwriting ability along with his distinct vocal tone make him a breath of fresh air. Much of 2020 was spent penning new music and the release of ‘Let’s Get Naked’ marks the start of another exciting year for Kena. On the new single Kena said:

“Let’s Get Naked’ is about peeling back the layers of the self and how vulnerable it is to be physically, but – more specifically – emotionally naked with your partner. I wrote this song about a time in my relationship where I felt we were fighting with our emotional armour, and trying to break down the walls we had built to protect our feelings. I wanted to be ‘naked’ as I wanted us to see and feel each other entirely and connect on a deeper level. You can’t do that when you use your history and past experiences like a shield over your heart, so, let’s get naked…”

The producers behind ‘Let’s Get Naked’ are the newly formed outfit, KORRES. For a debut track, it’s clear these guys have a keen sensibility for creating clean, polished dance/pop tracks that balance perfectly with Moss Kena’s stunning vocal. The switch in tempo in the break of ‘Let’s Get Naked’ is inspired, injecting a modern nu-disco section to the track and, when it finally drops, it really goes off! It’s a sublime start from KORRES with more in the pipeline this year on the hitmaking Perfect Havoc.

Shot during lockdown in 2020 by directors Olli Collins and Anthony Perey at 11 Little Films, the video for ‘Let’s Get Naked’ is quite the eyeful. Moss Kena features amongst a crew of dancers whose clothes vanish as they dance to KORRES’ beats. With a routine that’ll no doubt be recreated on TikTok over and over, what more fun is to be had this lockdown than shedding your clothes and getting naked? Just remember to blur out the naughty bits…

For the Hoxton-based independent, Perfect Havoc, ‘Let’s Get Naked’ marks another standout release. Its breaking talent roster includes Tobtok, Karen Harding, Mahalo, Just Kiddin and Parx and its global stream count has now broken the one billion streams barrier. With an acute ear for both underground and mainstream hits, licensing to labels including Atlantic Records, Big Beat, Columbia and Toolroom Records, Perfect Havoc now holds three UK Top 10 singles, including the fifth biggest selling single in the UK in 2020 with Joel Corry & MNEK ‘Head & Heart’.
