South Korean/Australian artist Munan returns with ‘Disco In My Room’, a warm, groove-led new single that captures the freedom of being completely yourself when nobody else is watching.
Following on from recent single ‘Not A Loser’, the latest taste of Munan’s upcoming music sees him leaning into the playful side of his songwriting, built around a catchy disco groove, swirly guitar and bass, and plenty of room reverb. The result is an easy-going track that feels made for dancing around your bedroom with the outside world switched off.
As he reveals below, this track was one of the first demos Munan wrote after releasing his 2025 ep “Everything in Between”, and ultimately became a key starting point for the inspiration behind his next album.
“Disco in My Room” was one of the first demos I made after releasing Everything in Between, and I think this song really became the starting point for the inspiration behind my next album. I wanted to lean into something I already knew I was good at and, and more importantly, something I have the most fun making. I wanted to keep it simple, easy to listen to, and built around a catchy disco groove—a song that makes you want to get up and dance.
I wanted the lyrics and the instrumentation to tell the same story. I imagined the feeling of dancing alone in your bedroom, completely free from anyone watching or judging you. It’s a private moment where you can just be yourself. Sonically, I tried to capture that feeling through lots of room reverbs, along with a swirly guitar and bass groove that almost wraps around you like a blanket. I pictured a dark, moody room, with everything lit only by a single bedside lamp.
Lyrically, I wanted to capture that feeling of taking a deep breath and finally letting go—a kind of sigh of relief when you realise you’re safe in your own space and nobody is there to judge you. You can dance however you want, look however you want, and nobody cares. It’s just a moment for yourself, where you can completely let your guard down.”
