Latest Release from his Forthcoming Debut Album “Born A Loser”
out April 30th on Ed Banger Records
As Myd gets closer to the release of his debut album – Born A Loser – he’s today released the latest single “Let You Speak”, a playful indie bop that features Myd singing on his own record for one of the first times. The single showcases the impressive breadth of Myd’s songwriting, proving he’s just as capable at making pop songs with guitars and a drum kit, as he is at making club tracks with synthesizers and drum machines.
Myd shared some words about what the song means to him:
“Let You Speak is the joy of feeling free, unbound, ready to travel and run away without looking back. I don’t want to see you anymore, hear you anymore and nothing you say will make me change my mind. What a pleasure to be on the loose.”
The “Let You Speak” video comes with a rather hilarious music video, featuring Myd and his two reluctant assistants trekking through everywhere imaginable on a field recording excursion. Myd, in typical deadpan fashion, demands excellence from his crew, in settings that range from a meadow, to a desert, a chateau, a crocodile pit, a chandelier-lit cave, a helicopter, a battleship, and various other bizarre places to record audio. It’s a whirlwind of emotions for Myd, and an unfortunate ending for his begrudged assistants.
The “Let You Speak” video was shot by LA-based director Dan Carr, who spent a month in France last year scouting locations and shooting the ambitious visual.
“It was a thrill getting to take this adventure alongside Myd to take audio samples of such different sounds and find these unique recording spaces. I only met the three on screen crew members briefly before shooting, but with such a small tight-knit crew we got to know each other very quickly and I think their dynamic and personalities showed. In the end I hope it leaves you with a couple questions about what’s really important in your life, and especially priorities when you’re making things with other people.” – says Dan
“Let You Speak” is the latest single from Myd’s forthcoming debut album – Born A Loser – which is out in full on Ed Banger Records (via Because Music) on April 30th. Previously released singles include “Together We Stand”, “Moving Men feat. Mac DeMarco” and the title track “Born A Loser”. In addition to Mac, the LP will also feature Juan Waters and Bakar.
