The soaring-single touches on what it means to listen, reflect and allow yourself willingly to be shaped by people and the world around you. The track comes as a love song, focusing on male fragility and the power that devotion can hold.

Sharing more, Olmo explained:”The protagonist is willing to shape shift and change and do whatever it takes to make their relationship work. The protagonist admits to have been wrong and is putting ego and pride aside in the name of love and empathy. It is a testament to the fact we need each other and we need to be willing to compromise to coexist.

Whatever Works’ tries to help the tide settle to a balance where vulnerability and complete empathy by a man is not seen as a form of weakness but an act of love.”

A natural experimentalist, Olmo might once have been driven by finding unique ways to combine frenetic drums with grandfather clock chimes and baby kicks (“Lungs”). However, this new chapter of music is all about creating more direct harmonies that can be chanted out instinctively by audiences. “Pop is no longer this dirty word,” Olmo explains. “I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized pop is whatever speaks profoundly to the most amount of people.

Taken from his upcoming album ‘The Trunk’, Whatever Works is the fourth single to be teased ahead of its release. Dream Boat came out back in March as a powerful reminder to not always take things on face value. Outwardly cheerful, the track touches on the battle of keeping your hopes and dreams afloat when you’re amid choppy water. Olmo shares: “Dream Boat is a cheerful song about being miserable. The joyous mood of the song contrasts the dark narrative to portray the difference we often experience between what we feel inside and what we display on the outside when we are in an emotional abyss

Influenced by a melting pot of artists such as Dylan, Nick Drake, and Beach House, the singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has subsequently inherited a soft-spoken, conversational way of singing that is rooted in dreamy instrumentation that sifts through folk, electronica, rock, and classical soundscapes. “My music is about creating a temporary dream space that people can escape into,” Olmo affirms. “It’s a safe place where complex issues are sweetened up and turned into these little earworms.”

Olmo (Francesco Lo Giudice) studied violin throughout his bilingual upbringing in Rome and London before turning to electronic composition whilst at Bristol University studying music. After graduation Olmo decided on a move to Berlin. “Bristol was a formative experience for me, but it was time to move on,” he says. Long days busking on the streets of Berlin became the place to forge new friendships, and the experience proved furtive for his imagination – the Olmo project was born.

Last year Olmo took to writing, recording and producing new songs at his studio in Berlin, a room in a community art space (Artistania). The outcome is a body of work that consolidates his craft as a meticulous producer and careful songwriter, confronting pressing social issues of our time, exploring mental health, the male ego as well as the eternal mystery of love.
