Toronto shoegaze outfit ONE HUNDRED MOONS have released their latest single, “Ear to Ear”, offering a glimpse into their forthcoming album Black Avalanche. The track drifts like a whisper in a dimly lit corridor—vocals threading through murky guitars while minor chords twist in ways that are both unsettling and irresistibly alluring. Listening feels like navigating a haunted labyrinth, uncovering something surprising at every turn.
The five-piece band—Collin Young, Jen Vella, Justin Hunt, Matt Laplante, and NJ Borreta—are known for weaving ethereal soundscapes with cascading guitars, hypnotic rhythms, and vocals that cut through the haze. Influenced by acts like My Bloody Valentine and Radiohead, they’ve carved a sound that blends the dreamy ambiance of shoegaze with the grit of ’90s alt-rock and the emotional weight of post-rock. The result is music that feels both nostalgic and strikingly modern, exploring themes of longing, transformation, and inner reflection.
On “Ear to Ear,” the group leans into their strength for creating atmospheres that feel almost tangible. Dissonant flourishes give the track a sharp melodic edge, and by the time it fades out, it leaves a spectral resonance behind—a haunting imprint that makes repeat listens inevitable.

The release lands in the middle of the band’s fall tour, which kicked off September 19 at Maxwell’s in Waterloo and continues through Oshawa, Niagara, Toronto, Hamilton, and Windsor. Known for their immersive live performances, ONE HUNDRED MOONS transform their layered studio textures into sprawling, hypnotic journeys on stage, drawing audiences into a sound that is as captivating as it is challenging.
With Black Avalanche, the band promises to push those possibilities even further.
