The title track of Prequel Tapes’ album ‘The Golden Cage’ is brought to life by contemporary dancer Hana Stojaković and captured by Marco Raab’s drone cameras.
Berlin based dance and performance artist and visual designer Hana Stojaković, holds a BA in Visual Communication from School of Design Zagreb, is currently enrolled in a BA Dance, Choreography, Context at Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin (HZT). Their recent work includes performing for choreographer Melika Akbari-asl, collaborations with music artists include choreographing and performing for spalarnia, and they are currently engaged in an interdisciplinary drag project in collaboration with Marta Maria Rusia, Skábma Pieski and Cikace Lestine. Existing in the realms of images and of physical space. Questioning visual representation of the body through movement, sound and silence. Embracing change as the real nature of things through subversion of exclusionary traditions / politics / culture. Cheeky togetherness as a soft weapon.
Veyl welcomed Marco Freivogel’s Prequel Tapes for an immense 8 song release, ‘The Golden Cage’. Completing an album cycle of themes and exploration which began with 2015’s ‘Inner Systems’, ‘The Golden Cage’ is Prequel Tapes’ most diverse and expansive work – utilising the artist’s own vocals for the first time and evolving his production and sound to new, uncharted dimensions.
Working off the trauma of his father’s suicide, ‘The Golden Cage’ was spawned from a hyper-realistic dream experience that revealed the artist’s path, catalysing new productions and techniques. The result is a striking work of unconventional electronics that journeys through rhythms, atmospheres and experimentations. A true narrative of a continuously challenging personal journey.
