Pshycotic Beats Shares New Single ‘IT’S ABOUT TIME’

Pshycotic Beats

Having already cemented himself as a broad and inventive producer on the rise right now, showcased by the release of his highly-praised offering ‘Hammering Noises’ earlier this year, Pshycotic Beats continues the support for his forthcoming new album with the vibrant new single ‘IT’S ABOUT TIME’.

Self-described as “if Trent Reznor produced The Pet Shop Boys”, ‘IT’S ABOUT TIME’ sees him adopt a more uplifting direction than some of his more atmospheric material. Largely influenced by the euphoric aesthetics of acts like Robyn and Depeche Mode, his latest release highlights more of his adventurous side, brimming with rich and powerful textures.

Speaking about the new release, he said,I have a personality disorder and I’m recovering from a major depressive episode that almost killed me. I had been lost and suicidal for 10 years but now I am happy, I enjoy life. To all those suffering from mental illness, I want to say that no matter how desperate you are, there is always treatment, possibilities, and a chance for the light to overcome the darkness. Ask for help and fight. Everything will pass. Nothing is permanent. Neither is the darkness, light will eventually come out again.”

The release of ‘IT’S ABOUT TIME’ also coincides with the physical release date for Pshycotic Beats’ full length album, ‘Festering’.

ABOUT PSHYCOTIC BEATS

Pshycotic Beats’ Andrés Costureras is an enigma, a shapeshifter whose work is impossible to pigeonhole, with his artist name itself (pronouncedshy-cotic beats’) encompassing his unique persona and artistry. His black velvet rhythms and soulful lyrics explore a fascinatingly dark world full of intoxicating possibilities; sometimes inviting the listener to revel in the night with him, dancing their troubles away, and at other times to hold his hand as he slowly breaks their heart. Channelling the spirit of David Bowie, Scott Walker, David Sylvian and Nick Cave, Costureras’ delicately beautiful voice exudes emotion, with every passionate syllable casting shadowy images on the wall like whispers around a campfire.

Between 2013 and 2020, Pshycotic Beats proved his range by releasing ‘Rexer Flash’, ‘Dormihcum’ and ‘The Black Sea’, a bold and surprising trilogy of albums about mental health that could easily be mistaken for club anthems. Now he’s back with ‘Breathe’, a brooding, foreboding tale of loss and longing from his forthcoming album ‘Festering’.

Pshycotic Beats albums are more than a record. It’s a journey for the mind, a buried disco in a cold cave like on ‘Killer Shangri-lah’, one of the highlights of his career, sounds like Patsy Cline having a blast singing somewhere in Twin Peaks. That song recently became one of the anthems of the BBC’s multi-award winning series Killing Eve.

‘IT’S ABOUT TIME’ is slated for release on September 7th, 2022. The full length album ‘Festering’ will be available digitally on October 28th, 2022.
