Mathias Kaden‘s ‘Freedom’ on Rekids receives the remix treatment 1st August 2025, with a new version from Kaden, as well as a dub mix from Radio Slave. Initially released as part of his 2024 ‘Circulate’ EP on the label, the release won support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, TSHA, and Dam Swindle.
Rooted in soul but geared for the dancefloor, Mathias Kaden’s uptempo rework of ‘Freedom’ toughens the original’s groove while allowing its jazz and dub-inflected stabs, strings, and keys to shine through, all while stripping back the track’s memorable spoken-word sample. Meanwhile, Radio Slave’s eleven-minute dub mix is a hypnotic, slow-burning and dreamlike track, built on spacious layering and a hauntingly re-emergent vocal. A full instrumental completes the package, with Kaden and Radio Slave joining previous ‘Freedom’ remixer William Kiss in offering three distinctive takes on the track.

Active since the mid-90s, Mathias Kaden appeared on Radio Slave’s Rekids for the first time in 2019, adding to a versatile discography on labels like Cocoon and Vakant while also remixing work by DJ Koze, KiNK, Monika Kruse, Trentemöller.
Founded in 2006, Radio Slave’s Rekids has since launched the Techno-focused Rekids Special Projects in 2017 and its latest sublabel, REK’D, in 2024. With Matt Edwards as the sole A&R, Rekids has been instrumental in developing emerging artists and remains a trusted home for House and adjacent sounds, recently featuring names such as Harry Romero, Tal Fussman, Spencer Parker, The Hacker, and more.
