It marks RICKY DIETZ’s first release since last summer’s ‘Juicy Fruit’ ft. WSTRN
Cross-continental duo RICKY DIETZ have joined forces with Jamaican dancehall favourite Busy Signal on new single ‘Yo Rhonda’, out now.
In true RICKY DIETZ style, ‘Yo Rhonda’ is an infectious, full-frontal dose of global dance energy, combining rapid-fire beats with vibrant percussion and Busy Signal’s distinctive vocals.
Shot in Kingston, the similarly high-spirited official video features the artists vibing amongst an all-female dance troupe.
On the collaboration, RICKY DIETZ comments, “We figured we’d start off the year with something fast enough to take us out of the winter slump. And it was only right that we go all the way to Jamaica to bang this one out with Busy Signal himself!”
RICKY DIETZ’s first release of the new year, ‘Yo Rhonda’ follows on from last summer’s single ‘Juicy Fruit’ featuring UK R&B collective WSTRN that was lauded by tastemakers as a ‘carnival-ready banger’.
Composed of Pierre Baigorry and Toronto-born singer Sway Clarke, RICKY DIETZ is a riotous collaboration between two celebrated artists from different parts of the world and different musical backgrounds. Prior to their formation in 2019, Sway had already been lauded by the press as an artist to watch and even dubbed ‘R&B’s next internet stud’ by The FADER, also drawing support from COLORS and writing songs for international stars such as John Legend and Tinie Tempah.
Meanwhile Pierre, aka Peter Fox, is better known as the frontman of Seeed, a multi-platinum German reggae and dancehall outfit who have collaborated with the likes of Cee-Lo Green, Anthony B and Tanya Stephens. Travelling the world and working with artists including Sarz, Cracker Mallo, TMXO, WSTRN and Jr. Blender, RICKY DIETZ’s danceable, soul-drenched sound is one that can be appreciated the world over – from Berlin to Trinidad.
One of the most adored names in contemporary dancehall, Busy Signal has already collaborated with a long list of star-studded artists, such as No Doubt, Major Lazer, Eek-A-Mouse, Tiwa Savage and many more.
Yet another invigorating, high-profile collaboration sees RICKY DIETZ continue their ascent through the musical ranks.
