The single will feature on the South Londoner’s upcoming ‘Circle’ EP
South London electronic music artist/producer LUNAKAI is back with his masterfully crafted new single ‘Closer’, out on 8th September.
Ahead of his full EP release on 29th September, LUNAKAI’s latest single shows off his craft for melody-driven soundscapes. ‘Closer’ blends a headstrong groove with sumptuous synth melodies, booming bass and an inventive mix of spoken word and chopped vocal samples. After an atmospheric breakdown of funk guitar and falsetto melodies, the track builds momentum to its electrifying conclusion.
“The track was formed on a nomadic journey, born as a live studio jam with a Korg MS20 & Juno 60 in a studio in Vilnius, CLOSER evolved into an organic experimental electronic dance track in London” – Lunakai sharing insight into the making of the record.
‘Closer’ is supported by a music video, co-shot & directed with close friend and collaborator Troy Baird, to be released on 15th September. Building more hype for the EP, it follows a new video for previous single ‘Touch’.
LUNAKAI is the moniker of south London native Kyle Ross. His debut EP has had over 1.5 million streams receiving playlist support from both Apple Music and Spotify as well as press coverage from Complex, Majestic Casual & Trippin. To top it off the EP title track was aired on Diplo’s BBC Radio 1 show as well as being remixed by TĀLĀ.
Kyle has worked with artists such as Ashnikko, Ross Quinn, Yussef Dayes, Cailin Russo, TĀLĀ, Litany, Pauli The PSM (Sampha, FKA Twigs), KennyHoopla & AMA (Dirty Hit/Polydor), remixed artists for PMR & Kitsuné & composed for Nike, Adidas, Audi & Honda.
