Over the past 18 months, Rob has meticulously crafted ‘Life’, blending elements of classic rock and pop with Beatlesque melodies and creative arrangements. Drawing inspiration from his lifelong admiration of The Beatles, particularly Paul McCartney, as well as the dynamic sounds of Oasis, Rob’s music embodies a timeless, melodic quality. All the instruments and vocals on this album are performed by Rob himself, except for two collaborations with Sean Weyers on ‘Bulletproof’ and ‘You Ain’t The One’ – marking Rob’s first collaborations in over 20 years.
In 2020, during the global Covid-19 lockdown, Rob found himself reconnecting with his musical roots; The time at home reignited his passion for songwriting, leading to the release of four new songs that year: “The Lows…”, “She Walks Away”, “Back To The Start”, and “Always There (Just Out Of Sight)”. Encouraged by this creative resurgence, Rob continued to write and record, working with renowned songwriter Ryan Tedder in 2021 to produce “Come Back Home”, “Thousand Eyes”, and “The Roses”. In 2022, Rob only released one single “All I Want Is Love” as his attention turned to completing his comeback album.
Rob’s journey towards ‘Life’ began in earnest with the release of the ‘Back To The Start’ album in February 2023. This album featured six new tracks along with his previously released singles, marking his official return to the music scene. Following this comeback, Rob remained prolific, releasing an updated version of his 1989 single “Drifting Apart (2023)” and introducing fans to three new singles from his upcoming album: “Coming Home,” “Never Going to Walk Away from You,” and “Bulletproof.”
Rob aspires to share his music widely, hoping that it resonates with listeners on a deep level: “When I got back into music in 2020 during Covid, I never thought I would be releasing 2 albums, 12 singles, and 6 music videos in 4 years.”
Rob began writing songs at the age of 12 and has preserved every song he has ever written and recorded. First introduced to the music industry in 1989 with his debut single “Drifting Apart/Take Away Love,” Rob’s refusal to sell his music to a record label early in his career underscores his dedication to artistic integrity. His music journey is fueled by a love for creating relatable and emotionally rich songs.
Rob’s extensive collection of instruments plays a pivotal role in the unique sound of ‘Life’ – The album features a diverse array of instruments including:
