3 of the hottest new school UK soul artists unite for the effortlessly silky ‘Sweet Distraction’, released through MNRK UK / Nxtgen Records.

Sam Wills splices his brand of UK indie soul with jazz-tinged hiphop artist Kofi Stone & beat maker Jake Milliner to bring a late night offering that’s as introspective as it is seductive.

Sam explains: “For me Sweet Distraction is about finding an escape from feelings of self doubt and lack of purpose. This song was the first thing I made when I was feeling a bit lost after my debut album dropped, and helped me reconnect with my creativity.”

Kofi adds: “Sam’s voice is like butter & Jake’s beats are like the finest bread so the two married together was a match made in musical heaven, I was honoured when Sam reached out. As soon as I heard it I wanted in. I was able to relive a memory of a love interest during my university days on this record.”

About the video: “What a mad day of filming that was. We wanted to make something that felt in contrast to the tone of the music, and an 80s dating show theme seemed to jar and at the same time fit perfectly. The gruesome parts at the end are a nod to the darker tone of some of the lyrics”.

Sam currently has over 1.4M monthly listeners with Traingazing hitting 2.5M Spotify streams a month, being heavily used on IG & TikTok for anything from Relationship Goals to Beautiful Holiday Breaks to Food videos & more.

Previous support for Sam includes BBC Radio 1s Chillest Record, BBC Radio 2’s Jamie Cullum, touring the US with Jordan Rakei + over 100 playlists of Spotify support Soul ‘n’ the City, Acoustic Soul, Next Wave Soul, Poolside Grooves, Soultronic, Spotify & Chill, Cafe Chillout, R&B UK, Alternative R&B and NMF UK.
