Boston-based indie dream pop artist Nick Helgesen (a.k.a Scrimshaw Porn) delivers his most urgent and invigorating statement yet – ‘Epilogue’

Nick Helgesen, releases his incendiary new single Epilogue on March 26th, 2026. Equal parts dance floor and courtroom, Epilogue is a fury-driven, groove-laden indictment of political cover-up and institutional silence — and one of the most unexpected sonic departures of Helgesen’s career.

Where previous Scrimshaw Porn releases like the hauntingly intimate Eleonore and Bore have built their emotional architecture on piano and atmospheric restraint, Epilogue was born from something more raw. “Unlike most of my tracks, it was not rooted in piano but more based on drive and anger,” says Helgesen. “I was a bit surprised at how dancey it came out.

The track speaks directly and unflinchingly to the victims connected to the Jeffrey Epstein case, offering a message that justice — however long delayed — is inevitable. 

It is a straight-up, angry rant at the hypocrisy of the bullshit and very obvious cover-up being propagated by the current administration,” Helgesen states. “It speaks directly to the Epstein victims and tells them that they will inevitably be heard and that justice will be served, no matter how long it takes.” It is exactly the kind of truth-telling that has always defined Scrimshaw Porn — only this time, it arrives with a pulse.

Bringing the track to life was a collaborative effort anchored by multi-instrumentalist Matt Antunes, whose contributions on drums, bass, and guitar proved transformative. “Matt Antunes was absolutely instrumental in creating Epilogue,” Helgesen says. “He is a super funky drummer, bass and guitar player and crushed these roles.” Longtime co-producer Matt Ricci also returned to shape the record’s layered sonic palette, which features electric guitar, drums, bass, piano, samplers, keyboards, and vocals. “As always, my co-producer Matt Ricci and I had a lot of fun,” Helgesen adds. “Kudos, gents.”

The result is a track that defies easy categorisation — pulsing with the industrial tension of Nine Inch Nails, the wry cool of Mac DeMarco, the synth-driven urgency of Nation of Language, and the cerebral groove of Daft Punk and Radiohead — yet entirely, unmistakably Scrimshaw Porn.

Epilogue arrives on the heels of a remarkable run for the project. Olivia, Helgesen’s previous release, held the number one spot on the Worldwide Top 40 on Kbradio.online for three consecutive weeks in December 2025. His earlier work — including the critically acclaimed We Don’t Talk, Edgar Allan, the September Surf EP, and the worldwide radio hit Good Girl — has steadily built a devoted global following. With over 26,000 unique listeners on Spotify, thousands of YouTube subscribers, and a rapidly growing audience around his curated playlist Alt Indie Pop Nights, Scrimshaw Porn is a project in full momentum.

Nick Helgesen’s musical story began at age four, when he first sat at his family’s Steinway piano — the same instrument his father still plays today, entirely by ear. Shaped by the jazz of Dave Brubeck and Miles Davis, the songwriting of Carole King and James Taylor, and the angular edge of The Cure and The Smiths, Helgesen developed an instinctive, deeply personal approach to composition that formal training never constrained. After co-founding Boston bands Brave New World and later The Arm — who shared stages with Eric Burdon and the Smithereens and placed their debut national album in the top 25 most-requested on 127 U.S. radio stations — he channelled everything into Scrimshaw Porn: a project where history, personal narrative, and lush, dynamic soundscapes converge.
