QUËRELES serves as an introduction to MËSTIZA by perfectly representing the creative universe they have inhabited for some time in their SACRO party and performances worldwide. It condenses it into twelve tracks where the pain and sorrow—the feelings of flamenco and Spanish roots—unite with the vigor and hedonism of the most interesting offerings in the world of house and electronic music.
MËSTIZA first’s step onto the scene was their SACRO parties, held monthly with numerous international locations (in 2022, they were in Mykonos, Canada, Paris, Dubai, Tulum, Ibiza, and Miami, among others). This concept combined spirituality, rituals, fashion, art, and, of course, music with a lot of style and personality. With one foot on the dancefloor and the other on a flamenco stage, MËSTIZA took their artistic direction worldwide.
It was in 2023 when MËSTIZA took a decisive step and began preparing their debut album. In the previous years, they had released tracks like “El Brillo” (Medina Records) and “Deserto Rosso” (Hurry Up Slowly), which already revealed their potential and essence: house, melodic house, and a reverence for Spanish folklore that positioned the duo on the global avant-garde and national tradition.
Now, with the release of QUËRELES as their debut album, they plan to solidify, expand, and grow their project even more. QUËRELES is an album that traverses traditional Spanish imagery with the expertise of those who know it inside out.
Flamenco roots and sophisticated electronics come together in QUËRELES. MËSTIZA presents 14 tracks in collaboration with renowned flamenco and roots artists such as Reyes Carrasco on “ESTRELLA,” Argentina on “LÁGRIMAS,” Chambao on “MIS OJOS,” and promising talents like Jose del Curro on “SOLEÁ DE LAS CAVILACIONES.” Likewise, they have managed to attract and collaborate with names like Aaron Sevilla for “EL FLAMENCO,” a pillar of avant-garde electronic music today.
MËSTIZA, capable of understanding the global music scene and offering a unique vision to advance it, delivers a spectacular debut with the creation of QUËRELES, which explores various facets of the concept of love (self-love, friendship, romance, etc.). Connecting with the deepest parts of ourselves, this is a project here to stay. MËSTIZA is here to chart their own creative path, not to follow the established norms.
