Berlin trio Swiss Pleasure are set to release their cover of ‘It’s My Party’ on 23rd October 2026, a reworking that brings the bittersweet emotions under the song’s cheerful surface into the open.
A classic pop anthem, ‘It’s My Party’ made the hits back then and remains universal in its theme, melody and arrangement. Swiss Pleasure began working on their version in 2024, drawn to what sits beneath that glossy pop sound. Their arrangement and interpretation are more melancholic and raw than the original, letting some of the song’s underlying rage emerge.
“We began working on a cover of ‘It’s My Party’ in 2024, wanting to reveal the bittersweet emotions beneath its glossy pop sound and cheerful surface,” the band explain. “Our arrangement and interpretation are more melancholic and raw than the original, allowing some of the song’s underlying rage to emerge, an expression that was likely not considered acceptable for women in Lesley Gore’s era. Lesley Gore was also a queer icon whose openness and advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights continue to inspire us.“
Formed in Berlin five years ago, Swiss Pleasure is the culmination of its three members’ (Agathe, Alea and Claire) desire to put music at the centre of their lives. Dream pop, post-punk, stoner, psych and even jazz acts all feed into their music, which comes from their approach to composition and their exploration of their voices and instruments. The band is intentionally formed of FLINTA* members, to preserve and promote a kind of expression that is historically underrepresented and marginalised. Theirs is an aspirational story, in which the trio seek to grow as musicians together while keeping a strong sense of vulnerability in their hearts. After releasing their first EP in 2024 and performing shows across Germany and Europe, Swiss Pleasure are gearing up for a new era, with a series of songs due throughout the rest of 2026.
