Scottish indie-rock band Tapedeck 45 release their anthemic new lead single ‘Johnny, How Could You’ from their self-titled album, out now on all streaming platforms.
Naming the Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines as their main inspirations, Tapedeck 45 draw from their combined influences, totally owning their own brand of gutsy and upbeat indie-pop.
“The song tells the story of how lifestyle choices can cause friendships to pull apart, no matter how close they are in the beginning. It’s something we’ve all experienced, and we wanted to put it into words. People can let you down; it happens. One thing that’s key to us as a band is blending our nature as a fun loving indie rock band with stories that talk about difficult conversations, creating an experience that’s got more to it than just the surface level with our songs. Nothing is more important to us than letting our listeners interpret the message for themselves and put their own situations and experience into the stories.”
An Indie-Rock 4-piece from Central Scotland, Tapedeck 45 have spent more than 5 years perfecting their sound. Starting out as frontman Sam Stewart and bassist Andy Laurie’s project for beer money back in uni, Tapedeck has its roots firmly in the rocking, rolling indie scene of the mid-2010s.
With classic indie tunes and styles belying serious musical composition, it wasn’t long before Tapedeck 45 became a regular in the gigging scene of their local stomping grounds of Dundee and Perth. Over the years, the band’s added a couple of extra members to the mix; Jordan Cruickshank on guitar and keys, and Andrew Burns on drums.
