Taylor D is a seventeen-year-old singer songwriter who is already making waves in the industry. Having been writing since the age of thirteen, her ability has caught up with her ambition as she releases new single ‘Fan Girl’ on Friday 31st of March, the title track of her upcoming debut EP (set for release in September).
The award-winning Dublin native has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her age, having already released a staggering 11 tracks and amassing over half a million streams on Spotify without any label or management. The Gen Z pop songwriter is naturally gaining traction on socials, as well as having already received airplay in Japan, Australia, The US and more. It’s only a matter of time until her home country takes notice.
Inspired by the likes of The Weeknd, ‘Fan Girl’ is an honest upbeat pop track. The confident ballad-style vocal delivery on a bed of piano is juxtaposed by programmed drums that are quintessentially late-noughties (think Nelly Furtado), showcasing the artist’s creative intention and ability.
On the new release, Taylor says:
“Fan Girl was inspired by going to concerts. I was at a Vamps Concert at Christmas and looked around and saw masses of screaming hysterical girls up in front of the stage and thought how a pop/rock star can be the highlight or obsession of these girl’s lives and to that star they are just a face in the crowd”
2023 is looking very bright for Taylor D as she eyes up the release of her debut EP, full of booming pop hits that are made for the radio.
