Tom Holkenborg Reviving Junkie XL alias for New Techno EP

‘A Fluff Scam’ Comes Out December 10, Title Track Out Today.

It’s been nine years since Tom Holkenborg last released under his Junkie XL alias. In those years, Holkenborg has become one of Hollywood’s pre-eminent film composers, working on projects like Zack Snyder’s Justice LeagueMad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool and Alita: Battle Angel, collaborating with directors like Robert Rodriguez, James Cameron, Zack Snyder, George Miller, Tim Miller and Peter Jackson.

While working on the Netflix series White Lines set in Ibiza, Tom was inspired to revisit his dance music past. He wrote a series of tracks that he sent to old friend Sasha for feedback, and after playing the tracks out, Sasha asked to release them on his label.

“These tracks were something fun and personal for me, a chance to stretch my dancefloor muscles again, after recalling so many of my Ibiza memories during White Lines,” said Holkenborg. “They are quite different from the classic Junkie XL sound, and I never had any intention of releasing them, but when Sasha asked me too, I couldn’t say no.”

Holkenborg has a long association with Sasha from early in his Junkie XL career, helping to produce Sasha’s 2002 acclaimed debut album airdrawndagger and then later collaborating to release the seminal progressive track BreezerSasha was an early champion of Junkie XL in the dance scene adding Future In Computerhell Part II to his Global Underground Ibiza compilation.

The single ‘A Fluff Scam‘ is out today on Last Night On Earth, followed by the full EP on December 10th.

As Junkie XLHolkenborg released six albums, and toured as a live act between 1995 and 2014. A key figure in the Dutch rave scene he headlined major dance festivals and clubs across the globe. Junkie XL collaborated with artists ranging from Gary Numan, Chuck D, Dave Gahan, Robert Smith, Madonna and many others, and famously topped charts around the world with his remix of Elvis Presley’s ‘A Little Less Conversation’.
