Referred to as ‘impressive’, ‘intriguing’ and ‘one of the industry’s new major players’ from the likes of CLASH and Notion Magazine, Norway-born-and-bred Californinan Trevis, releases ‘Avenue’ to make a trilogy of singles for 2022 so far.

From sitting in the studio sessions of super-producer Harmony Samuels and the BOE camp (credited with hits for Mary J. Blige, Ariana Grande, Chip, Ciara, Chris Brown), to the creation of his own music, Trevis is building a clear picture of who he is as an artist with his current run of music. His style gravitates to his mood and experience, rather than being confined in a genre space, and the unquestionable quality from Trevis is something he is proving time and time again. Qualities learnt, and self-taught, from the unique access he has had in watching master craftspeople at work, Trevis is inspired from the soul and has mastered how to bring the best out of his creative spurs of inspiration and lay it down in a record.

From bursting on to the scene with breakout R&B x contemporary pop single ‘All Night’ and swiftly following it up with the textured R&B melodies of ‘Company For Now’, his consistently smoking hot joints award him the freedom to define his very own sound and style. ‘Avenue’ is a glowing example of that as Trevis leans further into a guitar-led, indie-rock inspired track, which also makes room for him to pull in his signature R&B elements, deep-bass and soulful delivery.
As each record unpeels a new layer to Trevis as an artist, it is undeniably apparent that his heart and soul is poured into the creation of every track that he has released thus far, which he confirms as he explains the inspiration for his latest track: “Avenue came from a vulnerable place. Once I had the guitar down, the melodies and what I wanted to say followed quickly. I was seeing this girl for a while, and we were in that awkward stage where I did not know what to call us. I kept it mellow and did not blow her phone up, but I am a Cancer, and we are very in tune with our emotions. Staying home and overthinking is the worst thing you can do when you’re in that position. So I went back to my old ways to try and distract myself but ended up feeling more lonely at the club.”
Offering his own poetic license to his own personal tales, mixed with his worldly experience that has seen him travel, and engage with people and culture, Trevis is a songwriter and artist that has that ‘thing’. That special ability to connect, to relay a message, to stir emotion from within a listener and to do it in a contemporary, genuine and effortless way, which gives his music even more power in its cause. It is exactly why his music is being streamed in to the hundreds of thousands, played across platforms such as BBC Radio 1Xtra and how he is quickly gaining the support of industry insiders and music gatekeepers.
With a final note on the track, Trevis exclaims “Avenue is one of the songs I’m the proudest of making, especially how the production turned out. I’m gonna be playing this all summer.” – and we don’t think he’ll be the only one!
