Fresh off a run of sold-out shows across North America and Europe, Diamond Cafe shares “Date Me,” an upbeat, magnetic funk-pop single that turns post-breakup vulnerability into unapologetic self-confidence. Blending infectious R&B grooves with playful, flirtatious lyrics, the track captures the thrill of putting yourself back out there, embracing your appeal, and making the first move without overthinking it.
Written just weeks after the end of a relationship, “Date Me” emerged from Diamond’s decision to approach romance with renewed confidence rather than hesitation. Instead of dwelling on heartbreak, he wanted to create something that celebrated knowing your worth and having the courage to pursue what you want.
“I wrote ‘Date Me’ coming out of a relationship, when I felt ready to put myself out there again. Instead of being shy about it, I wanted to be my own hype man,” Diamond explains. “This song is for anyone who needs that little confidence boost to go shoot their shot.”

The single came together during a spontaneous 4AM recording session in North Hollywood with producer Oren Yoel. Although the two haven’t worked together extensively, Diamond credits their natural chemistry for the speed and ease of the songwriting process.
With the emotions of his recent breakup still fresh, the song took shape almost immediately, surprising both collaborators. Diamond recalls that Yoel has a knack for tapping into whatever he’s feeling in the moment, allowing their sessions to move quickly from an initial idea to a finished song.
That spontaneity carries into the music itself. Pairing upbeat pop melodies with funk-driven rhythms and smooth R&B sensibilities, “Date Me” balances an effortlessly sexy atmosphere with a playful sense of humour. Its direct, conversational lyrics cut through the usual uncertainty of romantic attraction, replacing mixed signals with a simple question: if the feeling is mutual, why make things complicated?
Currently recording his forthcoming album, Have You Ever Been in Love with a Gemini, expected in 2027, Diamond sees “Date Me” as part of a broader exploration of relationships, vulnerability, and the emotional experiences that connect them. Where much of his earlier work has examined the ache of lost love, this single embraces the excitement of what might come next.
