WYSE releases new single ‘Belladonna’

Formidable songstress WYSE continues to bring her raucous energy to the fold with the release of new single Belladonna, out now.

Opening with impassioned vocals, brooding synths and dark, immersive soundscapes, Belladonna is instantly a mood. As the song builds, her staple scuzzy energy comes into play as pulsating percussion and distorted guitar twangs create a sound that is full of feistiness and an explosive energy. Talking about the single, WYSE elaborates, “we tried to get the toms to sound as much like thunder as we could, experimenting with different drums, mics and post-production effects. I wanted something to emulate a lightning strike in the outbreak of guitars and the drums. Owain has a pipe that runs all the way from the live room to the control room and when he kicked it and pressed record, it had a rattling sound that for me was like lightning! It’s in the background of the recording but it adds some drama to that section I think”.

WYSE is a producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist currently living on the South Coast. Her debut EP Anomalies received praise from the likes of Atwood Magazine, Gold Flake PaintBBC Radio 1’s Gemma BradleyBBC Radio Wales’ Janice Long and BBC Introducing Solent to name a few.

Belladonna is the second single to be released from WYSE’s upcoming sophomore EP Allusions, due for release on 29th July 2022.
