“Over the Moon” harkens back to the duo’s debut appearance at Dreamstate’s flagship SoCal festival in 2021 and encapsulates the uplifting sound that XiJaro & Pitch—otherwise known as the Netherlands’ Xander van Dommelen and Belgium’s Anthony Reyers—have polished and perfected over the past decade.
Launching on a darker, more driving note, the lashes of acid are a prelude for the ascent that “Over the Moon” makes into uplifting territory, as the breakdown introduces blissful vocalizations, wistful string plucks, and escalating arpeggiations.
XiJaro & Pitch bring the piece to a peak through a trademark soaring chorus, as things flip over to the B-side with their special “Festival Mix,” which is engineered for extra anthemic impact. XiJaro & Pitch point to their performance at Dreamstate SoCal as the inspiration for “Over the Moon,” a career landmark that saw them welcomed with open arms by their die-hard Stateside fans.
“Dreamstate, for us, brings up so many wonderful memories and emotions from our first chance to play at the SoCal event in 2021,” says XiJaro & Pitch. “There was something so special about meeting everyone who came to see us. Not only was that our first time playing in the US, and at such a big festival; it was also the first time we got to meet many of the members from our online community that we started building in 2020 through our livestreams. We were truly blown away by the reception we got there in San Bernardino.
Delving deeper into the making of the single itself, they say, “For this track, which we started writing in summer 2022, we drew a lot of inspiration from our experiences in the US, as well as the nice, sunny weather we enjoyed at the time. The result is a trance tune that really is cheerful and uplifting, and oozes summer and festival vibes. We hope this delivers the very same feelings that we experienced at the Dreamstate festival!”
In addition to their entrance into the Dreamstate fold, XiJaro & Pitch have earned the accolades from Armin van Buuren himself, invited to deliver a guest mix on his career-making ‘A State of Trance’ radio show. Furthermore, their track “Bad Boys” appeared on his recent ‘A State of Trance 2023’ mix compilation. It all feeds back into the worldwide momentum they’ve built since launching their ’Chasing Dreams’ livestream in 2021.
