A 14-track release, Teenage Motel is a vivid sonic snapshot of one the UK’s most exciting young artists. Following a brief instrumental intro that sets the tone, brand-new single ‘BMW’ sees Yxngxr1 showing his playful side, with lyrics alluding to the Cardiff-born artist “driving around in an old-school BMW”. The similarly tongue-in-cheek official video perfectly captures the vibe.

Further singles come in the form of ‘Nice Guy’, an infectious pop jam featuring the dreamy vocals of Morgan Reese, and the melancholic guitar-trap of ‘Sweatshirt’ – tracks that have already amassed more than 800,000 combined Spotify streams.

Additional highlights include downbeat acoustic ballad ‘Nike And Diamond Rings’‘Room 2’, which juxtaposes Yxngxr1’s vocals with rapid-fire bars; the ethereal romance of ‘Call Me If U Want’; and old-school indie vibes of ‘Goodbye’. Closing track ‘Exit: Checkout At 11’ then ensures Teenage Motel finishes on a suitably pensive note.

“The loose idea is two people fall in love at a motel, but they realise it’s not going to work out,” Yxngxr1 says of the new LP. “They live fucking hundreds of miles away from each other and probably can’t keep it up. There’s a sad ending, but you could still listen to it and think ‘that could be me’.”

Teenage Motel is his sixth long-player release since his 2019 debut Childhood Dreamswhich pulled in over 60 million Spotify streams. To celebrate the release of Teenage MotelYxngxr1 will host a Teenage Motel Experience in London with exclusive merch and more. He will also embark on a Teenage Motel tour of the UK and Europe, kicking off on 10th July (full tour listings below).

A true product of the internet generation, Yxngxr1 is a multi faceted artist from Cardiff who first generated a buzz with debut single ‘Tyler’ in 2019 – in between holding down a post-school day job at Foot Locker. Following his viral explosion across fan-favourite singles such as ‘Rather Do’, ‘RockStore’, ‘721’, ‘Pigeons’ and more, he also released a flurry of full-length projects, including Childhood DreamsI Don’t Suit HatsYELLOW YELLOW YELLOWDigiKid and Digikid 2, drawing praise from The Line of Best Fit, tmrw magazine, Buzz Mag and The Guardian, who applauded his ‘lovably lo-fi indie-rap’.

Having always taken a self-sufficient DIY approach to his music releases, Yxngxr1’s previous projects were completely self-promoted, creating everything with his mates in true independent fashion. The results speak for themselves, as he has successfully built up significant multi-territory streaming numbers organically and received recent spins from BBC Introducing Cardiff and BBC Radio 2, all the while cultivating a diehard fanbase in the process.

One of the most prolific artists on the scene right now, Teenage Motel sees Yxngxr1 further enhance his ever-growing status.
