1tbsp releases ‘megacity1000 (LP)’ via sumoclic

“Over the last year, whilst I’ve been feeling creatively inspired, I’ve also often been feeling quite overwhelmed by the state of the world. Sometimes those two feelings feel very at odds with each other. Also, as I’ve been touring in different cities, I’ve become fascinated with their different approaches to handle growth, climate change & gentrification.

megacity1000 is a concept dance album that acts as an advertisement for a fictional ultra – modern city that could miraculously solve all these problems.

My partner and I spent two months over summer building a cardboard city from scratch and we shot the visuals for the al bum in this miniature city. We were heavily influenced by Playtime by Jacques Tati (1967) and Metropolis by Fritz Lang (1928) , as well as following along with what’s happening with The Line getting built in Saudi Arabia.

It feels important to me that dance music & djing can exist as an escape from constant overwhelm & negative feelings, but it was also interesting to find a way to bring these concepts into my music as well. ” ~ 1tbsp
