“WAIT4U” arrives as a riveting bass adventure that seamlessly blends Deadcrow’s spellbinding hardwave soundscapes with Ace Aura’s enthralling melodic riddim elements. Ace Aura shares, “I’ve been a fan of Deadcrow’s work for a while so I just decided one day to send him a DM on Instagram and see if he wanted to work on something. He was down and the rest is history!”
Deadcrow adds, “Ace Aura and I got in touch because he had already been playing out quite some hardwave stuff, and I already was a fan of what he was doing with melodic riddim. So inevitably we had to make a track together. The main focus was to bridge the gap between hardwave and melodic riddim/dubstep.”
Roniit comments, “Sometimes when I collaborate with people I love to try to channel the feelings and story of the instrumental through my writing. When I listened to their track I immediately visualized a post apocalyptic society. I tried to write from the perspective of someone who had one person left in the world.”
Emerging from McKinney, Texas, Ace Aura has etched himself as an unforgettable name in the realm of electronic music. Since 2012, his groundbreaking compositions, notably his pioneering projects in melodic/future riddim, such as the second most-voted song on Monstercat’s ‘Best of 2022,’ “UMBRA (feat. Voicians),” have redefined the landscape of modern bass music. Ace is becoming a household name on bass festival lineups, recently returning to Lost Lands, where he held a Boiler Room-inspired set, Bass Canyon, and Electric Zoo. He also took to Toxic Summer, Foam Wonderland, and Monstercat Compound for his Canada debut. This year saw him headline his first-ever tour, Crystal Coalition, where he graced the stages at prominent venues such as Larimer Lounge in Denver, Darkstar Theatre in Tempe, and The Loft at Skyway Theatre in Minneapolis. The sound of Ace Aura is unmistakable: marimbas, trance-inspired synths and heaps of colorful dubstep basses. The Dallas-born Eric Seall spent the better part of a decade crafting and helping popularize what would come to be known as “future riddim.” While many in his field make music that is equal parts heavy and melodic, those elements are one and the same for Ace Aura; his basses have chords running through their very fibers.
Inspired by both the brostep of yesteryear and his Christian faith, Seall aims to bring light to the bass music scene by promoting a wholesome lifestyle, musical uniqueness and exceptional production. To say this has caught on would be an understatement, as he has amassed more than 19 million streams on Spotify to date and earned cosigns from just about every A-list bass DJ one could imagine (not the least of which include Skrillex, Zomboy, Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Flux Pavilion and SLANDER).
Ace Aura is known for his high-energy DJ sets, which seamlessly flow between expertly-curated waves of dubstep, hardwave, trap and hardstyle, with a sprinkle of nostalgic pop cuts. Deadcrow Bio
Revered for his cutting-edge approach to wave music and experimentation across bass music, Deadcrow represents what it means to be a true influencer within dance music. Drawing upon his upbringing in the Netherlands, Deadcrow’s signature sound not only pulls from a variety of styles across the genre spectrum, but also from his father, notable jazz musician John Ruocco. At just three years old, Felix Ruocco learned to play the drums which sparked his career to come. At 12, Deadcrow already became well-versed in genres such as hardstyle, drum and bass, and dubstep, leading him to learn his way around FruityLoops — now FL Studio — on his dad’s laptop and teach himself how to produce electronic music.
Browsing YouTube and becoming an expert crate digger, Deadcrow’s fascination with grime and trap music laid the groundwork for his current status in the wave community. Inspired by artists such as UZ and RL Grime, his early years of music production included several witch house projects, including Salem and CVL† SH‡†, and led to him attending the Utrecht production school Herman Brood Academie, where he graduated in 2016. To kick off the Deadcrow alias, Felix unleashed his first releases on Dutch labels Antilounge and FilosofischeStilte’s BLCK Records, later releasing on Saturate! Records as he explored bass music to new heights. In 2016, Deadcrow stumbled upon a new sound known as wave, and he felt inspired by producers like Yung Gud, Mssingno, Kareful, and brothel. To introduce himself to the scene, Deadcrow released his Night Wonder EP on Plastician’s Terrorhythm Recordings and his collaboration with Kareful, “Night Skies,” two releases that solidified his influencer status in the wave community.
As one of the scene’s renowned figures, Deadcrow is known for his nostalgic, JDM and cyberpunk aesthetic through both his sound and branding. Heavily influenced by video games like Need for Speed Underground 2 and Tokyo Xtreme Racer along with the Blade Runner film franchise, Deadcrow brings forth a sound that’s both futuristic and heavy yet emotionally-driven. Deadcrow’s one-of-a-kind touch has brought him around the world on tour, including his first run of shows in the United States in 2018, where he was the first wave artist to perform across the country. Recent years have seen Deadcrow catch the attention of high-profile artists in the bass community, including RL Grime, Zeds Dead, Whipped Cream, Krewella, Peekaboo, and many more who have supported his original music.
As a staple on wave labels Liquid Ritual, vibe.digital, and wavemob, Deadcrow has helped spur a movement in dance music which has led him to expand his release catalogue to some of electronic music’s most notable labels, including Sable Valley, Deadbeats, Night Mode, Quality Goods Records, and more.
