Alexis Raphael launches Creche Records with the Express Yourself EP, backed by a remix from Huxley

Unsurprisingly, ‘Simple ‘N’ Dirty’ opens the EP with a tight swung groove amongst crushed arpeggios and infectiously dirty bass. Huxley, known for his garage and rave-imbued catalogue of house releases on labels such as Hot Haus, Knee Deep In Sound and Shall Not Fade, then infuses the track with a retro feel through classic bass organs and hard-hitting beats.

The smooth pads and impassioned vocals on ‘72 Hours In Hawaii’ are contrasted by the squelchy, bleeped-out synths and tongue-in-cheek naming of ‘The Bog Standard Tesco Value House Track’ which closes the release with a unique, intricate wonkiness perfect for the after-hours.

Alongside his decade-spanning career releasing music on labels such as Jackathon Jams, Hot Creations and Of Unsound Mind, Alexis Raphael has gained international recognition holding down residencies in revered venues while running his legendary London party Creche. Inspired by its twelve-year run he now aims to inject the scene with fresh house music on his newly minted label of the same name.
