The Belgian techno star’s long-awaited debut album arrives September 4, with Angèle serving as its only featured guest.
Amelie Lens has unveiled “run,” a new collaboration with fellow Belgian artist Angèle, offering the latest glimpse into her forthcoming debut album, AURA, due out September 4 via her own EXHALE imprint.
The single brings together two of Belgium’s biggest musical exports in a meeting point between peak-time techno and contemporary pop. Built around Lens’ signature blend of driving rhythms and atmospheric tension, “run” introduces Angèle’s unmistakable vocal for the only featured collaboration across the album’s eleven-track runtime.
The release follows previously shared AURA singles “our frequency,” “falling into acid dreams,” and “whatever you do,” continuing to reveal different sides of Lens’ first full-length project after more than a decade at the forefront of global techno. While her productions have long balanced festival-scale energy with underground sensibilities, “run” expands that palette without sacrificing the intensity that has become synonymous with the EXHALE founder’s sound.
Speaking about the collaboration, Lens said Angèle was the only artist she envisioned for the record.
‘Angèle’s voice was the only one I could imagine on this track. I’ve been such a fan of hers for so long. I think she’s a truly special talent, and that’s why she’s the only collaborator on my whole album.’
Angèle echoed the sentiment, describing an instant connection between the pair and recalling the excitement of being invited to appear on Lens’ debut LP.
‘When she called to ask if I’d be on a track from her first album, I heard it and didn’t even have to think about it. I admire her so much, both as an artist and as a woman. I’m really happy we finally got to make something together.’
The release lands during another packed festival season for Lens, who continues a run of headline appearances before celebrating the launch of AURA with a hometown show at Antwerp’s KMSKA museum on September 5.
