Anna Leone today returns with her first new music in two years. Produced by Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Hurray For The Riff Raff), new single ‘Wondering’ – out now via AllPoints/Half Awake – is the follow-up to the Stockholm native’s widely applauded 2018 debut EP ‘Wandered Away’. Securing Leone radio airplay at 6Music (including Lauren Laverne & Guy Garvey) alongside Ones To Watch tips from Spotify and Youtube, the EP release has also clocked over 18 million streams and counting to date. Stream ‘Wondering’ – which follows close on the tail of Anna’s recent win at the 2020 Music Moves Talent Awards (alongside fellow winners Flohio, girl in red and Pongo) – from here: https://ffm.to/wondering.

Drawing us back into Leone’s delicate but uncompromisingly honest universe, the slow-build intensity of ‘Wondering’ hits the emotional redline with a careful maturity that belies her 25 years of age. Speaking about the path to creating the follow-up to ‘Wandered Away’ (produced by Grammy-nominated Bryan Wilson), Anna notes; “I’ve been going back and forth recently trying to decide whether I should start releasing new songs. My music is very much about isolation and being disconnected, and I’ve been kind of questioning if that‘s the energy I should put out into the world right now. I think ultimately though, the songs are about isolation but they’re also about healing, and I can only hope that that’s what people take away from them. I’ve been dealing with depression and anxiety for a long time and this album is sort of the culmination of all those feelings. I still can’t listen to it all the way through without crying, which is painful but also a good thing, I think. It feels cathartic.”
Raised alongside four sisters in a quiet suburb of Stockholm, as an introverted video game and sci-fi obsessive Anna Leone fast developed her own rich inner life. Growing up absorbed in DC and Marvel’s comic storytelling while watching two of her elder siblings join a Swedish pop group as teenagers, Leone bought a guitar with no other intention beyond privately perfecting treasured releases by the likes of Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey and and Laura Marling. Soon demonstrating a facility for startling, emotionally resonant song-writing of her own, and battling against the debilitating stage fright which is still present today, Leone has found a fast-growing international audience which continues to stretch far, far beyond the four walls of her teenage bedroom.
