‘Maybe Never’ EP due out October 15 via Self-release
Texas-born, Canadian-raised, and South Africa-based indie pop artist Avi Mack unveils new single, the upbeat heartbreaking “Maybe Never”, from his upcoming EP of the same name.
With tight production and catchy hooks, Avi Mack delivers emotional melodies to create a happy sort of melancholy. “Maybe Never might be my favorite on the EP. It very much came from a raw place, where I was searching for answers about the deterioration of a relationship. The concept is actually based on having that breakup phone call. I realised, perhaps, that I was an idea. Not a real person. It wasn’t me that she loved, it was the thought of me. The concept. The abstraction. And it turned out that I wasn’t what she wanted, because I was a real person. With real problems, and real flaws. And accepting those ideas was too difficult. It was too hard to love. And I don’t know who I was to her. Was I just a fling? Or an idea? Or was a way to pass time. I’ll never know the answer, and will never have closure.”
