Brandon Riley aka B. Riley’s forward-thinking Techno has seen him appear on labels such as Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD, his own CMND CTRL and now Chris Liebing’s esteemed CLR. Riley drops three groove-riddled techno tracks on the influential imprint, following up recent releases from DEAS, Risa Taniguchi & Black Asteroid, Shlomi Aber and Liebing himself.
Steady drums and droning percussion open up the ‘Morphing’ EP via ‘Draw the Line’, an energetic roller featuring funky vocal samples shot through with perpetual rhythm. The title track then takes a dark turn, its infectious groove and earworm sequences at the centre, unidentifiable shrieks haunting the background. ‘Juxtaposition’ is up last, a real techno work-out which kicks off slow, but turns into a mind-warping frenzy rife with twisted techno plucks.
