London’s Bad Patterns and Leeds seasoned producer Justin Joseph are two groove technicians making waves out of the UK. For their new single on IN / ROTATION, the pairing crafts heavy-duty basslines with surgical precision. “Danger” is packed to the brim with treacherously wonky synth work, with its soulful, shouting hooks only added to the intensity. The raspy grunts loop tirelessly over ominous, crystalline chords and shuffling drum programming, as the detuned buzzsaw leads modulate and bounce like its life depends on it. The end result is fat UK bass with a mid-aughts deep house panache that is guaranteed to put floors on red alert.

Bad Patterns is a fast-rising producer based in North London. As alluded to by his alias, he has a tendency to engage in risky behavior, which takes the shape of dysfunctional house music spanning UK garage, tech, bassline, deep house and more. Despite the project kicking off in 2022, the producer has been around the block and back, cited for juggling various pseudonyms over the years before landing on the Bad Patterns pseudonym. With that span, the English sensation has managed to churn out quality cuts alongside Dizzee Rascal, Scruffizer, Stefflon Don, Cecelia, with his output earning the stamp of approval from tastemakers from the likes of Sammy Virji, Notion, Don Diablo, Mark Knight, and SHOSH.
