NYC native Bailo and Miami-based producer Ricky Remedy reconnect for their debut outing on Insomniac’s BREAK ROOM imprint, a modern and cinematic trap banger laced with equal parts euphoria and club-ready nostalgia.
NYC native Bailo and Miami-based Ricky Remedy reconnect with purpose on “Tonight,” a cinematic trap statement arriving February 20th via Insomniac’s Break Room Records. Shaped by distinct yet complementary foundations—Bailo’s early immersion in Queens’ hip-hop circuitry and Ricky Remedy’s Latin GRAMMY-nominated tenure as a trusted architect of 808-driven rap and bass—the single feels less like a debut on the imprint and more like a strategic continuation of shared momentum.

“Tonight” pivots around an interpolation of Montell Jordan’s late-’90s slow-burn classic, reframing its familiar invitation into something darker, sharper, and more immediate. The topline is pitched skyward and suspended over a meticulously arranged trap soundscape: delicate music box melodies glint against ghostly choral swells, while sweeping pitch-bent synths stretch across the stereo field. Beneath the surface, rapid-fire arpeggios flicker with controlled urgency, locking into sub-heavy 808s that land with calibrated force. It’s a precise exercise in tension and release—nostalgia filtered through modern low-end engineering—balancing bedroom intimacy with festival-scale impact.
Diving into the inspiration that fueled the single’s creation, Bailo says, “‘Tonight’ came from wanting to capture that late-night energy when everything feels a little more alive. Ricky and I wanted something that hits hard in the club but still carries emotion—that tension between euphoria and nostalgia. BREAK ROOM felt like the perfect home for that feeling.”
Sharing his own perspective on the collab, Ricky Remedy adds,“We’re just trying to make drops that make you feel like gravity just stopped working.”
The release revives a creative partnership first ignited on “Pull Up” and “Lethal Injection,” two standouts from Bailo’s 2022 ‘OHKAY!’ EP. Those tracks earned co-signs from Marshmello, Alison Wonderland, CELO, CORTR, Dirty Audio, Benzi, 4B, and Stööki Sound, signaling a chemistry that translated seamlessly from studio sessions to mainstage play. Bailo’s ties to the Insomniac ecosystem run deeper still. Through his TRICKSTAR project alongside Ookay, he delivered the ‘LAUGHING STOCK’ EP, drawing coverage from Moon Lvnding, Frontview Magazine, Fresh Music Freaks, Affinity Ascension, Find Your Sounds, Global Money World, and Beat For Beat. He has since expanded his solo footprint with tour support for Tape B and an upcoming appearance at The Republik in Honolulu alongside Riot Ten.
Ricky Remedy’s résumé extends across the highest tiers of hip-hop and electronic music. His production credits include collaborations with Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, Young Thug, Kodak Black, Meek Mill, and Rick Ross, alongside sync placements in Apple’s ‘Shot on iPhone’ campaign, the cult classic comedy ‘22 Jump Street,’ iconic racing game ‘Need for Speed,’ and UFC. Within the dance sphere, he has worked alongside Diplo, Flosstradamus, Steve Aoki, ETC!ETC!, and Bok Nero, while delivering remixes for Skrillex and Zomboy—navigating festival bass and mainstream rap with equal fluency.
On “Tonight,” those parallel worlds converge with clarity. Bailo’s trap-rooted instincts and Ricky Remedy’s heavyweight command of rhythm and sub-bass coalesce into a record that feels intentional at every turn—leaning into wave-tinged atmospherics without sacrificing percussive punch. As BREAK ROOM continues to platform forward-facing bass, “Tonight” stands as a measured evolution for both artists: a nod to formative influences, sharpened for the future of modern trap.
Bailo and Ricky Remedy’s new single “Tonight” is available on all platforms via BREAK ROOM Records.
