BiG MiK, aka Michael Armstrong, has dared bricks and mortar for drums and bass. Hailing from Cullercoats, Newcastle, he draws inspiration from everyday life, while maintaining a grounded approach to sound and production with the same creativity that has defined his working life. On his production debut for Patrick Topping’s Trick label, ‘Forever Walking’ balances both grit and grace, offering a first glimpse of what’s to come from the up-and-coming producer.
The captivating ‘Forever Walking’ shows a lightness of touch with soft chords and balmy pads that swirl and drift above the simple yet effective house drums. The keys are neon-lit and heartfelt, while the essential dancefloor hook comes from a pitched-up vocal snippet full of yearning.
