“Some of the best songs I make come together quickly and naturally,” added Yatez. “I loved the beat as soon as I heard it and was vibing with it straight away. Then when Destiny laid her vocals that was the finishing touch.”
Developing his own style, blending rap with melody over eclectic production, Yatez prides himself on being involved in the production of his music, not just writing and singing, with his personally penned lyrics taking inspiration from elements found in soul, RnB, and hip-hop.
Citing artists such as Stevie Wonder, Tupac, J Cole, Drake, Skepta, Wretch 32, Sizzla and Oasis as his earliest idols, Yatez has received a wide range of backing so far in his career, dropping his 18 track‘Local’ album in 2017; a gateway into support from BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Charlie Sloth, and Jamal Edwards (SBTV).
