Hailing from Indonesia, Bleu Clair has spent the last few years reshaping the modern house landscape with an eclectic style incorporating elements of bass house, tech house, and exotic cultural flavors that pique his interest. On his next appearance with Insomniac Records, the Jakarta-based export stays true to his reputation by delivering a club-ready two-tracker taking inspiration from foreign territories.

Setting the tone with impeccable energy is “Samsara.” The lead cut is an exuberant tech house tool revolving around hypnotic tribal vocal chants, hip-shaking percussion, punchy drums, buoyant stabs, and slithering woodwind flourishes, which add a mesmerizing finishing touch to its infectious bounce.

“I found this awesome tribal vocal sample online, and the idea just got stuck in my mind to make it as the topline,” says Bleu Clair. “The song then became ‘Samsara,’ which I played a couple times last fall and winter in the States. The crowd’s reactions were amazing.”

The intensity stays locked as the energy spills over onto the B-side. Bleu Clair sprinkles in some Portuguese flair on “Hangover (BaBaBa).” Tethered to a spry vocal excerpt from the seminal zouk bass anthem, the house cut carries the romping hook with a rolling groove that is slinky and sweaty in all the right measures.

“For ‘Hangover (BaBaBa),’ I sampled Buraka Som Sistema’s old song,” he explains. “I heard it for the first time on Skrillex’s track list back in 2012 and I was always amazed by their catchy vocals. I’m super pumped for this to finally be released.”

Both tracks have proven themselves to be highly effective on the dancefloor, after Bleu Clair tested them on the road during his North American tour last year. He is currently running it back with his ‘New Age of House Tour Pt. II,’ which includes stops at EDC Las Vegas, Soundcheck in Washington D.C, Academy LA, and venues in San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix, Brooklyn and more. With ‘Samsara / Hangover’ dropping in the leadup to his upcoming string of dates, Bleu Clair is once again demonstrating why he’s one of house music’s fastest rising names.

Bleu Clair’s new two-tracker ‘Samsara / Hangover’ is available on all platforms via Insomniac Records.
