‘Blow’ is the latest single from lau.ra ahead of her much anticipated new mixtape this spring.
On her recent BBC6 Music show, The Blessed Madonna marked lau.ra out in her ‘Ones to Watch for 2022’, the latest in a string of accolades for the UK artist. Now Laura Bettinson comes good on that once again, after a massive 2021. Her distinctive style overflows with energy and has made her a firm favourite, with press support from the Guardian, Billboard, Mixmag & DJ, playlist support at 6Music and Rinse, consistent BBC Radio 1 plays and streaming numbers in the tens of millions. Last year saw singles, including the bass-fuelled ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ feat. JessB, lockdown bangers like ‘Wicked’ and the recent gem ‘Body Go’, that’s recently been lighting up BBC airwaves. During this crescendo of activity, she has also become a mother for the first time, planning out a release schedule in advance that has allowed her to spend the initial precious months with her infant son.
This April will see the release of her much-anticipated mixtape, but ahead of this, we get her latest musical missive, ‘Blow’. The single sees lau.ra once again team up with Eliza Legzdina, with whom she recorded the critically acclaimed ‘Wicked’. Legzdina is a queer, sex-positive, Eastern European femme and classically trained opera singer who serves up high energy performances with fierce lyrics. She lights up ‘Blow’ with some serious attitude as she sings about independence and success. The elastic drums and intense bassline are in your face and infectious, bubbling away next to a plunging lead pad that cannot fail to erupt the floor.
‘Blow’ is another brilliantly full flavour and bombastic track that overflows with individuality and kicks off an exciting 2022 which has already seen lau.ra performing at DC10 Ibiza for New Years with dates scheduled across the UK and Europe.
