“Lyteo” has a long life: released in 2005, revisited by Rank 1, and played by Leon Bolier for years. Now Bolier returns to it as BLR, taking the melody and that unmistakable vocal sample that first caught his ear and rebuilding them with a cleaner, more current production approach.
The new version doesn’t try to turn “Lyteo” into something it isn’t. Instead, BLR keeps its slightly unusual character and emotional pull, while tightening the groove and giving the familiar elements more room to hit in a modern set.
The melody, the small vocal sample and the slightly weird feel of the track were exactly what I liked about it. It was always a bit different, but in the best possible way, and that’s what made me want to bring it back and give it my own BLR treatment. Leon Bolier
