Booka Shade pay homage to Germany’s rich techno history as they drop ‘1993’ from their forthcoming album.
As we edge closer to the reveal of their latest album ‘BOTH’, Booka Shade ready the second single from the project as they dive back in time with a modern twist. Embedded within Germany’s electronic landscape for over 20 years, the Blaufield Music bosses remain at the top of the game – and whilst their productions have taken twists and turns over the years, the foundations which fuel their signature sound remain at the heart of their work. A core influence is Germany’s early ’90s techno scene, and that era is celebrated here as they reveal a dark, warping and driving ode via ‘1993’.
“1993, what a year that was… Around that time we began to drive from our little hometown in the Southwest of Germany to Frankfurt, listening to the radio station HR3, to hear techno in its purest form in clubs such as The Omen, XS and Dorian Gray. The places where you could listen to mind-blowing new tracks from Hardfloor, Laurent Garnier, Dobre & Jamez or Brainchild every week, new releases from labels like Eye Q, Touché or Bonzai. Legendary parties with Sven Väth, Frank Lorber or Frank Fenslau… This was where we got our first important techno infusion, and this song, ‘1993’, reminds us a bit of those great, intense times…” – Booka Shade
Booka Shade ‘1993’ drops via Blaufield Music on 22nd October 2021.
