Broke Records Announces Signing of GRAMMY-Nominated Artist ZHU

(LOS ANGELES – JUNE 27, 2025) –  In a major milestone for one of the fastest-growing independent labels in the industry, GRAMMY-nominated artist ZHU has signed an exclusive distribution deal with broke Records. The announcement marks a significant new chapter for both the pioneering electronic artist and boundary-pushing label, as broke continues to solidify its reputation as a home for globally recognized talent.

ZHU’s first release under broke, out today, is a reimagining of his breakthrough 2014 hit “Faded,” (Blacklizt Version) now remixed by Canadian techno producer HNTR. First surfacing in underground edits and buzzy festival sets including Coachella, the remix has become a cult favorite in recent months, drawing praise from tastemakers like Kaskade and sparking crowd reactions from Floyd Miami to The Brooklyn Mirage.

“ZHU represents the caliber of artist we built broke to support,” said Andre Benz, co-founder of broke. “This moment is not only a full-circle reinvention of one of the most defining electronic records of the 2010s—it’s also a statement of intent for what comes next. Partnering with him on this next chapter is an honor, and we’re excited to help bring his world to life on his terms.”

The signing of ZHU marks a milestone moment for broke Records, which was founded by Andre Benz and Brandon De Oliveira. In 2024, two of its artists landed on Spotify’s flagship Today’s Top Hits and the Global Top 50. UK rapper Ndotz became the ninth most-streamed UK rapper of the year, with his breakout single “Embrace It” ranking as the fourth most-streamed UK rap track. Combined, the label’s top performers have generated over one billion streams across digital platforms.

Broke’s roster represents the cutting edge of independent music, spanning viral rap, underground electronic, and experimental pop. Alongside ZHU, the label currently works with a growing list of standout artists including Sevdaliza, bbno$, sosocamo, RJ Pasin, BLP Kosher, and DC The Don, among others. The addition of ZHU reinforces broke’s vision of building a home for culture-shaping talent who are unafraid to push creative boundaries.
