House music has crowned itself a new bassline boss, and she goes by the name of Jordan Capozzi. The Bay Area-bred producer is actually widely referred to solely by her surname, which is a telling sign that it’s all about business for this heavy-hitting machine. She’s been climbing her way up to the top of the food chain over the last few years, putting her sleek, head-turning grooves on full display at world-class festivals such as HARD Summer and the inaugural HARD PNW offshoot last month. Those performances clearly left an impression on the HARD crew because they are now opening their catalog up to her audacious low-end ways.

The lead cut “No One” is a dark and maniacal bass house number. Anchored by her own distinctive vocal work, the dancefloor-ready track is threaded around an iconic scat-style hook and whistle-laden melody. In true Capozzi fashion, the bottom frequencies smack in all the right places.

Changing gears on the B-side, “AI Love” descends into a deeper realm. Robotic spoken-word phrases yearn for requited affection, while a scrolling code of frothing acid squelches, sequenced bleeps, shuffling drums, and eerie horns immerse the listener into its artificial world.

“‘No One’ is a track that I had been working on for several months,” says Capozzi. “It took a while to finish because I wanted to make sure the vibe of it was all the way me, vocally and production-wise. Now, I’m curious to see what the people think of the track and if they feel the same as I do about it because I love it!”

Capozzi’s new release ‘No One / AI Love’ is available everywhere via HARD Recs.

More About HARD Recs

Renowned for curating the most cutting-edge lineups, HARD has solidified itself as a cultural institution within the live events space by continuously staying at the forefront of the ever-evolving dance scene. In 2018, they extended this forward-thinking ethos into their first compilation album, ‘HARD Summer 2018,’ an 18-track package aimed at showcasing the most sought-after sounds in house, techno, bass, trap and hip-hop music. With the launch of their very own HARD Recs imprint, they are providing a platform for the artists sprawled across their many stages at HARD Summer, Holy Ship!, and Day of the Dead. As its first full-fledged artist signing, they recruited UK powerhouse JOYRYDE, who has since released a string of high-octane singles, which eventually led up to his massive debut studio album, ‘BRAVE.’ Good Times Ahead (fka GTA) has graced the catalog with 2019’s ‘Good Times Bad Times at Hard Summer’ mixtape, featuring a star-studded roster that brought together high-profile acts such as Flosstradamus, What So Not, and more. Grammy-nominated sensation Wuki has also been enlisted to the roster, with respective singles featuring Diplo, Snappy Jit, Stoppa, and Juvenile leading up to the forthcoming release of his debut studio album. The most recent artist invited to join the ranks is Portugese bass music maestro HOLLY. With many more new signings coming down the pipeline, HARD Recs will remain dedicated to its mission of shining a light on established legends and on-fire newcomers alike from all across the spectrum of contemporary music.
