Introducing his latest body of work, Caspa explains the meaning behind its title and big-ups the host of talent standing beside him on the EP: “This is one of those projects that I’m profoundly proud of. This whole thing was about pulling together the best and my most favourite producers in dubstep and having fun. I’m very proud of it and absolutely ecstatic to show it in its full glory to the world. The name of the EP is very simple: CASPA X the other artist. A project of collabs to make dubstep great again and again! Being able to release this project with Bassrush is full circle. On lead track “Gut Feeling,” Caspa and Detroit’s breakout phenom PEEKABOO deliver a haunting dubstep cut that draws power from minimalism and tension. Eerie vocal fragments and atmospheric dread give way to sharp rhythmic shifts and expertly dialed sub frequencies, showcasing both producers’ ability to weaponize silence and space.
“Affinity,” Caspa’s collaboration with Canadian producer Distinct Motive, opens on a deceptively serene note. It rolls out with shimmering synths and a slow-building bassline before plunging into heavyweight dubstep chaos, anchored by a monolithic wobble that snarls with vintage attitude. Switching between warped melodic motifs and hard-hitting rhythmic patterns, “Affinity” rides the line between hypnotic groove and controlled destruction.
The journey continues with “Never Serious,” a seismic team-up with Ternion Sound that threads ragga-infused drum patterns and immersive low-end into a shape-shifting banger that hits with both weight and nuance. The track arrives amid the trio’s farewell tour, serving as a ceremonial torch-passing between generations of dubstep innovators.
“No Laughing Matter” sees Caspa link with Florida-based duo EAZYBAKED for a warped plunge into leftfield dubstep. Awash in murky textures and unpredictable percussive layers, the single explores the shadowy edges of sound design—blurring the line between old-school fundamentals and future-facing experimentation.
On “Real Talk,” Caspa joins forces with MYTHM for a raw, stripped-back weapon rooted in sub pressure and razor-sharp drum programming. With MYTHM’s signature textures layered over Caspa’s foundational grooves, the track strikes a perfect balance between minimalism and menace.
