Club Sweat is proud to be aligning with #23by23, steered by Sydney Blu and Rebekah together with the support of LP Giobbi, Femme House, Ableton Live, Native Instruments, DJ Minx, and Baby Weight for an initiative encouraging record labels around the world to increase their percentage of Female & LGBTQ+ producers to 23% by the end of 2023.
“I encourage the following question to any A&R rep: Are you making your label a welcome space for women? Do you provide feedback to female submissions? Are you proactively seeking female artists who are producing music similar to the sound of your label? This is the basis of the 23by23 campaign,” – Sydney Blu
For women, trans and non-binary artists who have been participating in a male dominated community for decades, it is disheartening to see the lack of female visibility on lineups and music festivals time and time again. For women of colour and trans women, underrepresentation and discrimination is even more prevalent in the dance industry. However over the last four years various music initiatives have emerged in attempts to level the playing field. It has been an exciting time to witness the conversation shifting and female identifying artists rising up and raising awareness on the issue.
Club Sweat will be supporting the initiative with a REMIX COMPETITION powered by Metapop and Native Instruments starting January 20th, with the winner to be announced Feb 18th. We strive to champion female talent at Club Sweat and Sweat It Out, so it felt fitting to participate in the campaign together with our very own J. Worra and her hit single ‘YOU’ featuring Cat Connors.
To be a part of the competition, if you identify as female, trans or non-binary, join Metapop’s Female and Gender-Non-Conforming Producer Group to connect and share with other producers. Submit your track for the chance to officially release your remix on Club Sweat and go into the running for the grand prize – Native Instruments KOMPLETE 13 ULTIMATE, plus some other fantastic Native Instruments gear.

Competition Rules
- Create a remix over 2 minutes in duration
- Have legal rights to all sounds used in your remix
- Entrants must use Cat Connors’ vocal in the submission, plus at least two of the stems provided
- Be prepared to show your project files
- One entry per person. You can upload improved versions by pressing the gear icon next to your tracks title
- Club Sweat will listen to all entries and select the winners
Making proactive, sustainable changes to a label landscape that has been male dominated for years will resonate with people, especially resonate with female producers. You cannot be what you can not see, and labels have the power to inspire an entirely new generation of female producers and artists.
