Paris-based Jeremy Delvila draws inspiration from funk and disco but has a special love of rare grooves from around the world. His own sounds and sets combine styles and scenes from across the decades, always with a classy edge and organic flow. He recently served up a superb selection for the JOLENE mixtape series that took in everything from The Ohio Players to DJ Sneak and tunes from founders Mike and Danny Parton, and now he brings that same special touch to the label itself.
Immediately timeless opener ‘Big Brother’ is a swirling, filtered French touch gem that bristles with excitement and soulful samples. The loopy drums and silky synths build towards an irresistible groove that never stops moving. The superb ‘Feel Better’ is just as impossibly feel-good and packed with joy in both the smeared synths that rise and fall, the soulful drums and the clipped vocal hooks that burst out of the mix. Last but not least, ‘My Love’ weaves together more disco-house brilliance with filters teasing out the tension, lovely drum breaks bringing the funk and vocal snippets all amping up the energy levels so that the dancefloor overflows with good vibes.
