Daft Punk and The Weeknd became an unstoppable force with “Starboy,” released during the latter half of 2016. The song appealed heavily to their respective fan bases, with The Weeknd bringing his palatable vocals to a versatile, poppy-background forged by the enigmatic, masked French duo.

Their winning single has brought forth yet another achievement for both acts, with its music video officially surpassing the milestone of one billion YouTube views. “Starboy” marks the second time The Weeknd has made it to this benchmark, while this is Daft Punk’s first foray into the exclusive club, joining the likes of Calvin Harris, DJ Snake, and Major Lazer. Prior to hitting one billion views, “Starboy” had found itself at the top of multiple charts, while award shows rushed to book special performances after it established itself as a bona fide hit.
