Daniel Cuda releases new EP ‘Mulholland Cowboy’ via Rebellion

Emerging from Melbourne’s close-knit underground, Daniel Cuda has been developing a stripped-back, groove-led sound that finds its footing between Deep Tech and raw House. Releases on labels like Techaway, Nervous, and his own Milk Crate imprint have shaped Cuda’s journey so far, with support from influential names including Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez, and Damian Lazarus, who has previously championed tracks from Cuda’s own label. Now stepping into the next chapter, Cuda makes his label debut on Lazarus’ Rebellion with the ‘Mulholland Cowboy’ EP–a three-track release arriving on 16th May that leans into hypnotic rhythms and groovy late-night energy.

“‘Mulholland Cowboy’ is my way of blending club energy with a bit of personal flair. The title for the EP pulls inspiration from the early 2000s movie Mulholland Drive and my usual habit of digging into movies and TV shows for ideas. I always write with my DJ sets in mind, and how I can inject some of my personality into the music I play — ‘Dip’ especially feels like the sweet spot between groove and personality.” – Daniel Cuda

Cuda opens his EP with ‘Dip’, blending a familiar vocal hook with wobbly synths and a funky, no-nonsense breakdown, laying down a thick, driving groove. Title track ‘Mulholland Cowboy’ leans into a mischievous energy, with brooding arrangements and evolving, sultry builds that hold the power to shift the mood of a packed dancefloor. On ‘Come Get It’, Cuda brings a more percussive focus, layering bubbling drums and pulsating beats to drive the track’s momentum.

Daniel Cuda ‘Mulholland Cowboy’ EP drops via Rebellion on 16th May 2025.
