Just days after announcing the upcoming launch of their very own Future Rave label and their upcoming EP, out on November 4th, David Guetta & MORTEN reveal the track that will christen the new imprint: ‘Element’.
A short, sharp, shock of a track, ‘Element’ unites everything that Future Rave stands for. Rippling cascades of stabs hammer away in a brutal rapid-fire pattern before a pounding kick and throbbing bass smash into play. A subtle tribal rhythmic inflection helps the track gallop as vocal synth samples trade places with the stabs to create a tonal dialogue that propels the track. The huge breakdown teases with sonorous horn-style blasts with a stuttering snare roll leading us back to the gargantuan groove. It’s sleek, succinct, and hugely powerful in its simplicity.
The combination of techno, hardcore rave undertones and big room attitude is at the core of the fusion that makes Future Rave such an exciting sound. Launched as a collaborative project for Guetta & MORTEN in which they flex different creative muscle to their usual sounds, it spawned a fully-fledged genre in its own right with many contributors inspired to be part of it. It’s this network effect that pushed them to create a label for the sound, to unify the scene and provide a platform for the producers that will carry the baton forward and keep this fluid new genre evolving.
With a proven ability for releasing the hits of tomorrow, today, David Guetta and MORTEN have carried the Future Rave torch since the genre’s earliest release, “Never Be Alone” (ft. Aloe Blacc). Since then, the proven tastemakers have bore the weight of the movement releasing hit after hit, certifying Future Rave as a sound of the times with genre-bending originals like “Impossible,” “Dreams”, “Permanence,” and “Alive Again,” as well as their visionary remix of Avicii’s posthumous single, “Heaven”.
Demo submissions will soon open for the label, allowing producers to get their tracks in front of the Future Rave team to be considered for release.
‘Element’ is out now on Future Rave.
About Future Rave
Over the past three years, world-renowned DJ & producer David Guetta and Danish phenomenon MORTEN created a brand-new dance music culture by unleashing their pioneering ‘Future Rave’ sound. Emerging from their desire to play something new in their sets, the inventive genre reflects their vision on the future of electronic dance music: fresh and innovative. Both David & MORTEN are heavily inspired by the underground, and they have made it their trademark to bring sounds and formats from the underground and present it to the masses. With Future Rave, the duo is bringing the best elements of both the EDM and underground scenes together, while keeping the cutting-edge sound ever-evolving. Future Rave builds bridges between the energy and the hooks of EDM, the futuristic sounds of techno and the emotion of trance and (future) house.
After a sold-out US tour, which saw the pair perform at Exchange LA, Brooklyn Mirage, and in front of millions on the mainstage of EDC Las Vegas, David Guetta and MORTEN took Future Rave to the iconic island of Ibiza for an astonishing 18-week residency at Hï Ibiza.
Supported by the entire industry, DJs worldwide are loving this new era in dance music and bring the hard-hitting sound to their sets. Future Rave isn’t just a sound, it brought a wave of new energy to the DJ community and created an entirely new culture amongst fans of electronic dance music.
About David Guetta
Musical trailblazer David Guetta is an international icon. Receiving his 10th GRAMMY nomination this year for ‘Hero’, his collaboration with Afrojack, Guetta has also been voted the world’s best DJ in the coveted DJ Mag ‘Top 100’ poll and the best electronic artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards, both for the second year running, capping off another incredible year for the dance music visionary.
Maintaining an epic level of quality for his live streams during the pandemic and lockdown, he hosted his iconic United At Home series, a number of unforgettable concerts from Paris’ Louvre Museum, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Icon Brickell in Miami, and atop the Rockefeller Center in New York, raising $2 million in donations for numerous charities. With clubs and festivals finally open, Guetta is set to perform at the world’s biggest festivals and events in 2022, performing at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, his residency in Las Vegas, Creamfields festival in the UK, Lollapalooza in France and in his two residencies in Ibiza (Ushuaia and Hi) the whole summer, with many more to be announced.
There was never dull moment on the production front for him during this difficult period either, scoring a global hit with ‘Heartbreak Anthem’ alongside Galantis and Little Mix and other smashes including ‘If You Really Love Me’, ‘Bed’ with Joel Corry, ‘Remember’ with Becky Hill, sending him to #9 most streamed artist on Spotify globally. He also released a remix of the summer hit ‘Love Tonight’ and a 2021 remix of his classic ‘Memories’ after it unexpectedly went viral on Tik Tok. He turned his hand to an official remix of the global Coldplay and BTS smash, ‘My Universe’. More recently he connected with Bebe Rexha, Ty Dolla $ign and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on ‘Family’, sounding off 2021 with yet another acclaimed single.
A master creative across genres, Guetta went from strength to strength with his underground-focused Future Rave project alongside Morten. Celebrating 10 years of his massive ‘Titanium’ collaboration with Sia, Guetta released a mind-blowing Future Rave remix, and he is also set to release a new Future Rave anthem ‘Alive Again’ on 3rd December. Additionally he returned to his uncompromising Jack Back alias for ‘I’ve Been Missing You’ with Ferreck Dawn and Guz and ‘Alive’ with Roland Clark and Fancy Inc.
With over 14 billion global streams, 50 million records sold worldwide and two Grammy awards to his name, David Guetta demonstrates time and time again why he is the most cherished electronic artist of our generation.
MORTEN has been taking over the industry for the past two years with his innovative new ‘Future Rave’ sound together with good friend David Guetta, inspiring DJs worldwide and creating an entirely new culture. He has gathered an audience of 4.7M monthly listeners on Spotify alone, releasing hit after hit with the Guetta-collab being on top 5 of the most played records in the world by DJ’s for 7 weeks. As last year’s highest new entry in the DJ Mag Top 100, landing at #20 in the 2021 1001 Tracklists ranking, a residency at Hï Ibiza this summer, and shows on the mainstages of EDC Las Vegas and Tomorrowland, MORTEN does not need to assert his spot anymore. His ability to transform his music between melodic, captivating vocals and his well known, recognized snare and bass heavy drops set him apart from most artists.
He also has had amazing success with his merchandise collection “BBA”, the most successful merchandise line in Denmark, which has sold out within hours after each collection dropped. He continues to prove his artistry spans even further by having his own resident radio show “Future Friday” with Tomorrowland’s One World Radio.
