Singer songwriter Ed Tattersall has unveiled ‘The Good, The Bad and The Dubby’ – a spectacular remix by Defoe of his single and cover of The Gorillaz smash hit ‘Clint Eastwood’.

A dub-heavy take on Ed’s dramatic and soulful re-imagining, the remix is an electronically driven powerhouse that utilises an arsenal of pulsating bass notes, reggae-influenced guitars and spacious, atmospheric drums to propel Ed’s unique and gritty voice even further skyward.

The track is accompanied by a surreal video, which sees Ed sing amid a warped progression of scenes cutting between footage projected onto vintage TVs and dystopian landscapes.

Defoe is formed of two musicians, Rob Clydesdale and Mark Daniels, who were founding members of music collectives that were pioneering forces behind Acid Jazz, Trip-Hop and Big Beat in the 90’s. They’ve collaborated with a diverse collection of artists including David Bowie, Grand Master Flash, Pete Shelly, Ian Dury and many more. Now Ed Tattersall can add himself to that list.

‘Clint Eastwood’ was originally released in July alongside ‘Never Believe’, the first single from his upcoming debut album. Ed created both alongside hit songwriter/record producer Jamie Petrie (JP), who discovered his early tracks and approached him.

After being invited to perform at one of JP’s legendary parties the two took a slightly inebriated stroll, and over a whiskey and a cigarette they began plans to develop Ed’s sound and begin writing what has become Ed’s first album.

JP has also directed the ‘Clint Eastwood’ and ‘Never Believe’ videos, which were produced by Movies Darling.

‘Never Believe’ & ‘Clint Eastwood’ are out now via Hertford Records/Believe Digital and showcase what a striking new talent multi-instrumentalist Ed Tattersall is, with a rasping, soulful voice and a truly atmospheric approach to melody. He will be announcing live shows soon – stay tuned for further new music too.

Ed will also be playing live in London playing at Rye Wax, Peckham on October 16th and The Bedford, Balham on December 17th.

“A piano-led interpretation of the Gorillaz classic, with Ed’s gruff tones adding some extra soul to what was once a bizarre indie/hip-hop hybrid, but is now something else entirely, as the best covers always are.”
Move To Trash on ‘Clint Eastwood’“This compelling cover was tinged with a folkness and Ed’s raspy tones resonated sleek soulful vibes. He literally delivered this number with plenty of gusto.”
