DJ T-1000 “Functionality EP (incl. Hertz Collision Remix)” – Rekids Special Projects

DJ T-1000, aka Alan Oldham, is a multi-talented artist, label owner and graphic illustrator who has taken his unique techno visions to the world’s best clubs and labels since the ‘80s. He has helped to showcase the Motor City sound worldwide, with acclaimed releases on vital electronic imprints such as BPitch ControlTresor, and his own labels Pure Sonik RecordsGenerator Records, and Xfive.

He kicks off his EP for Radio Slave’s imprint with ‘Klendathu,’ a well-swung, high-pressure techno track with supple drums and fizzing synth stabs. It’s stripped back and perfectly designed to hypnotise. Fresh from killer releases on Truncate and CLRHertz Collision flips ‘Klendathu’ into a kinetic and energetic cut with darker bass, fierce vocals, and a tangible sense of tension.

‘Functionality’ brings trippy synth loops and belting drums together, custom-built for strobe-lit dance floors. The superb ‘Hood Tactics’ follows with deep kicks, hard hits, and pulsing leads. The atmospheric and reflective ‘We Shared A Moment’ is a slower affair with emotive synths, airy vocals, and smooth rolls to round out another standout release from both DJ T-1000 and Rekids Special Projects.

“The ‘Functionality’ EP is what the name implies, stripped-down DJ bangers, going back to my ‘A Pure Sonik Evening’ (1998) roots. I was very fortunate to get a remix from Hertz Collision, a great young talent from Italy that emerged (for me) during the pandemic. I’ve played his tracks on HOR, and when gigs returned, played them out, too. I’m super excited to be a part of the Rekids (RSPX) label journey. Matt and I have talked about this for years; I am glad the stars finally aligned.” – DJ T-1000

DJ T-1000’s ‘Functionality EP’ drops via Rekids Special Projects on 18th August 2023.
