Dobao is a Buenos Aires–based talent who has been shaping his local scene for more than a decade. He is the founder of Highlife, the city’s iconic disco and house party, and later created Bonaire, Argentina’s first boutique festival, as well as BeatBlox, a blockchain-powered music platform in the Decentraland metaverse. His sound blends 1980s synthwave, disco, and house with a Latin flair and soulful vocals, and his 2022 debut album, Dobaoismo, received significant support from CC:Disco!, Trujillo, and DJ Rocca. Having played venues from Black Flamingo in NYC to ODEM in Bogotá, Dobao has established himself with an infectious, feel-good Balearic groove that fuses live improvisation with uplifting energy.
Open ‘Linda’ is a playful and funky fusion of house and disco, featuring bold bass notes and tumbling drum fills. Retro-futuristic synth lines and subtle hooks all lodge deep in the brain, as the fiery vocals bring a human touch. ‘Agitalo’ is a jacked-up and 80s-inspired early house sound with analogue bass and splashy cymbals that rise ever higher. The classic cowbells and squelchy synths are topped with Spanish vocals full of rhythmic flair and Latin heat. Closer ‘Yendo’ is another big groove that taps into nostalgic synth sounds but with fresh modern production, chugging bass, and wispy cosmic motifs. It’s an easy-to-love sound with a timeless vibe and plenty of stardust to get dance floors going off.
